Deutsche Bahn (DB) is requesting a budget of $313 billion to rapidly upgrade Germany’s rail infrastructure. This request is considered as part of a larger $540bn fund negotiated by the German government. The WB also aims to invest in areas such as military mobility and digitalisation with an additional budget of $151 billion planned until 2034. These major investment plans aim to overcome the challenges of rising costs and ageing infrastructure and reflect Germany’s drive to modernise its railway system.
